Our Story

At the heart of Chinese civilization lies a constellation of values, philosophies, and traditions that have shaped human life for thousands of years. Among them, 孝道 — filial piety, the deep reverence for one's elders and ancestors — stands as one of the most foundational: a reminder that who we are is inseparable from those who came before us.

It was this spirit that inspired the founding of Theresa Wang Chinese Culture Center in 2019. Our founder, David Wang, believed that in the pace of modern life — especially for Chinese communities navigating life far from home — these cultural roots can quietly erode. Not through rejection, but simply through distance, busyness, and the passage of time.

Theresa Wang Chinese Culture Center exists to close that distance.

Through intimate gatherings, curated lectures, and thoughtful dialogue, we bring people together around the full richness of Chinese culture — its arts, its philosophy, its history, its people, and the values that have carried it across millennia. We do not believe culture should live only in museums or textbooks. We believe it belongs in conversation, in community, and salons — passed warmly from one person to the next.
